Wayne Rooney, former head coach of Birmingham City, responded strongly to Tom Brady’s criticism of his work ethic. The former NFL star attacked Rooney in an episode of Amazon Prime’s Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues.
Brady, co-owner of Birmingham City, did not hesitate to criticize the five-time Premier League champion, who is also England’s second-highest scorer. Rooney served only four months as head coach of Birmingham City, winning just two out of 15 matches during that period.
A direct response without controversy
According to Firstsportz, as co-owner, Tom Brady criticized Rooney’s work. However, the English football legend believed Brady’s comments were unfair. He stressed that football is very different from the NFL.
On The Wayne Rooney Show, the former coach said: “American football is not the NFL; the NFL works three months a year. Players also need rest, so I think it’s very unfair the way he presented it.”

Rooney also pointed out that Brady appeared only one day before a match. “I think Tom came in once, the day before a game when the days are lighter anyway, and I don’t think he really understood football.”
Despite their differences, Rooney expressed respect for Tom Brady. He even called him an excellent worker and one of the best athletes in sports history. Rooney admitted that after some squad changes, Birmingham City’s performance improved significantly.
