Shedeur Sanders injured his oblique muscle during joint practice with the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles. The injury kept him off the field for a while, but now a new update about the rookie’s health has been released.

According to Bolavip, the update is positive for the team. His recovery process has been very successful and is showing strong results. Therefore, we should see him back on the field soon.

A successful recovery for the rookie

NFL insider Tom Pelissero confirmed the good news: “I’m told there’s cautious optimism that Sanders could return to practice next week and possibly play in the preseason finale. Officially, the Browns are calling him day-to-day. They’re dealing with multiple quarterback injuries in that room.”

At the start of preseason, Shedeur Sanders made his debut against the Carolina Panthers, but days later he suffered the injury that sidelined him. This created uncertainty within the Browns about his future in the upcoming NFL season.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski decided that Sanders will not be the starting quarterback. Instead, he believes Joe Flacco is the team’s QB1 for the 2025 season.

Pelissero added: “Joe Flacco has been healthy, taking all the first-team reps. He’s on track to be the starter. Kenny Pickett is still dealing with a hamstring injury. They expect Dillon Gabriel to debut after his own hamstring issues.”

Therefore, Sanders won’t carry that responsibility, but he remains a key piece for the Browns, who want him to stay healthy throughout the 2025–26 season.
