In Kansas City, women’s soccer is no longer just a bet on the future. It’s a booming reality generating millions. And behind that growth is Brittany Mahomes, who has turned her passion for the sport into a business now worth $275 million, according to Forbes. Her team, the Kansas City Current of the NWSL, is already the second most valuable franchise in the league, just behind Angel City FC. Apparently, Patrick Mahomes isn’t the only one bringing home big numbers.

Brittany Mahomes, a former college soccer player in Texas and entrepreneur with multiple ventures, is building a strong personal brand. She’s also leading the transformation of women’s soccer in her city. According to sports outlet The Sport Rush, since becoming a principal owner in 2021, the Current has built the state-of-the-art CPKC Stadium. On top of that, the team posted record revenues: $36 million last year and a projected $45 million for this year. Patrick Mahomes has been a vocal supporter of Brittany’s vision, and now he’s officially part of it.

Million-dollar strategies

The latest move was a strategic one. Brittany Mahomes brought her husband, Patrick Mahomes, on board as co-owner of the club. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, with an estimated net worth of $90 million, is now part of a mission that goes beyond sports. It’s about positioning women’s soccer as a profitable and respected industry.

The joint investment by Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes strengthens their commitment to the community. It also sends a clear message to other athletes and investors: women’s soccer has real potential. While the NWSL still faces annual losses exceeding $10 million per team, the Current is close to breaking even—something few clubs can claim. Patrick Mahomes brings not only capital but also credibility and star power to the project.

Sports equity

Brittany Mahomes is a strong advocate for sports equity. Under her leadership, the team has built top-tier training facilities and fostered a culture of respect and professionalism. Patrick Mahomes, for his part, adds visibility, influence, and a winning mindset that could accelerate the club’s growth.

Together, Brittany and Patrick Mahomes are redefining what it means to invest in sports. And if the Kansas City Current keeps up this momentum, it won’t be surprising to see them lifting more than trophies. They might just raise the bar for what women’s soccer can become in the United States.
