Aries Spears stands out for his impressions of NBA legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley. This time, he shined in a performance where he portrayed the NBA legend defending WNBA star Angel Reese.
His mother was a jazz blues singer, and he credits her for his keen ear and ability to mimic vocal cadence and personality.
A joke about Shaquille O’Neal
According to The Sports Rush, Spears has only been impersonating Shaq for a few years, but he’s improved over time. “Every voice has a note… People who can sing have an ear for tone, inflection, rhythm, cadence. Everyone is a note. They know a note. If someone who can’t sing tries to sing, someone will say: ‘You’re off-key.’ So it’s about being in tune.”

When talking about the NBA legend’s voice, he explained: “With Shaq… Shaq is choppy and deep… Hey [Robert Griffin III], if you talk about Angel Reese, I’ll punch you in the face. I’m talking about my sister… I don’t usually do this, but I’ll punch you in the face.“
Right after that, Spears switched to impersonating Barkley, clearly showing the difference between their voices. “Let me tell you something… Kobe Bryant… LeBron James is the best athlete. I think it’s very interesting,” he added.
That Shaq part references the warning O’Neal gave on the Off The Record podcast to former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, who harshly criticized Angel Reese in the media. He even posted a mock cover of NBA 2K26 featuring Reese, with a highly racist tone.
Shaq, who is very close to Reese, told Griffin:
“RG III, tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese and I’m gonna punch you in the face, the f*ing face. K. That’s enough.**”
