Joe Milton is embracing his new start with the Dallas Cowboys and making it clear that things are much better than they were during his short stint in New England. Milton, who served as the Patriots’ third-string quarterback behind Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett, didn’t hold back when comparing the two environments.
In a recent interview reported by the New York Post, Milton openly praised Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, calling him a true leader and mentor. “Dak is a great leader… All respect to him. He literally does everything he can to help me,” Milton said. “Even if the coach is talking during a meeting, he still tries to help. I’ve been in another building. I know how it goes. It’s very different here.”
That “other building” was, of course, the Patriots’ facility. Milton’s comments suggest that his experience in New England lacked the support and guidance he’s now receiving in Dallas.

When asked whether he had been seeking a change of scenery, Milton didn’t hesitate. “Definitely, I preferred it,” he said. “That was something my team and I worked out. They were able to make it happen; I really didn’t have to do much or say much. So just a shoutout to my agent, that’s all.”

This isn’t the first time Milton has indirectly criticized his former team. Back in May, he claimed the Cowboys’ offense is “the fastest and most explosive” he’s been part of—another not-so-subtle comparison to the Patriots.
Interestingly, Milton had a solid performance in his final game as a Patriot, throwing for 241 yards, scoring one rushing touchdown, and adding a passing touchdown in a win over the Bills. Despite that, New England traded him in April for a late-round pick after signing Josh Dobbs in free agency.
Now in Dallas, Milton seems more confident and supported. His words and tone show that he’s excited for this next chapter—and relieved to have left the last one behind.
