The All-Star Game is one of the most beloved events for fans of women’s and men’s basketball in the United States. However, this year there was a notable absence that left fans disappointed: LeBron James did not participate in the NBA All-Star Game. Now, it seems the story is repeating itself in the WNBA with Caitlin Clark.

James announced too late that he wouldn’t participate in the All-Star Game due to injury. By the time he informed everyone, there was no time to name a replacement, causing backlash from fans. The same situation happened with the Indiana Fever star.

History repeats itself and fans feel the impact

Unfortunately, Caitlin Clark has already suffered two injuries. Just before this weekend’s WNBA All-Star Game, she announced she would also miss the event, just like the NBA’s “King of the Court.” This truly feels like a déjà vu moment that leaves Clark’s fans deeply disappointed.

According to Essentiallysports, Caitlin Clark had just returned to the Indiana Fever after a left groin injury. However, she injured her right groin during a game against the Connecticut Sun. The WNBA didn’t announce her withdrawal from the All-Star Game until Thursday.

So, fans of both the NBA and WNBA won’t see the main attraction of the exhibition weekend. Without Clark and without James, it simply won’t be the same. The likely result? A steep drop in the popularity of the Indiana Fever and lower ticket prices for the All-Star Game.
