The fairways at The Renaissance Club in Scotland are prepped for the sport’s finest—but there’s one name noticeably missing. Tiger Woods won’t be competing at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open.

At 49, the 15-time major champion remains in competitive pause while recovering from a procedure to repair his Achilles, following a training setback earlier this year. The surgery, though minimally invasive, has kept Tiger Woods out of all three majors in 2025. The Masters, PGA Championship, and U.S. Open—according to coverage from Sportskeeda.

Tiger Woods limited by ongoing recovery

This latest update adds to a long lineup of physical battles the Californian has faced since 2024. In fact, Tiger Woods’s most recent tournament appearance was brief. His health remains a driving factor behind every decision. Though fans have spotted him supporting his son Charlie at junior events, there’s still no clear sign the golfer is ready to return to full-speed competition.

While names like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler gear up to headline at The Renaissance Club. Tiger Woods remains absent from the 156-player field that will light up the Scottish turf. Some hoped to see him at least in an honorary role, possibly as a guest or symbolic figure—but so far, even that hasn’t been confirmed.

A comeback worth waiting for

For years, every Tiger Woods comeback has echoed across the sport. His ability to bounce back from injury has only amplified his legend. And while this time no specific return date has been set, many insiders suggest 2026 could mark a pivotal moment.

While recovering, Tiger Woods has also been enjoying time away from the golf course. He’s been seen on several occasions with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, both supporting their children and spending quality time together as a family.

All signs point to Tiger Woods staying off the course for the rest of the year. It’ll likely be next season when fans finally see him competing again at full strength and among the best.
