Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull surprised fans on the night of July 4th when they appeared to celebrate U.S. Independence Day together. They weren’t alone—and that sparked curiosity among their followers. The event highlighted their growing friendship, which began when Clark joined the Fever in 2024.
Since then, Clark and Hull have formed a close bond, not just on the court but off it as well. Their families have even joined in, sharing time and activities that show how strong the connection has become.
A Strong Friendship Beyond Basketball
The two shooting guards have posted photos and videos on social media, sharing workouts, laughter, and meaningful moments. Hull even revealed that she and her fiancé, Will Matthiessen, often enjoy game nights with Clark and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery.

But the group doesn’t stop there. On July 4th, both players and their families gathered in Indianapolis to celebrate together. Hull posted a photo to her Instagram stories showing a young man holding lit fireworks. She tagged Patrick McCaffery, Connor’s brother, who also shared the same image on his Instagram, confirming the celebration.
Everyone seemed to take advantage of being in the same city. Patrick recently finished his college basketball career and spent time with his brother in Butler. Connor moved to Indianapolis after joining the Butler Bulldogs as an assistant coach.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark is still sidelined with a groin and quadriceps injury, causing her to miss her fifth game with the Indiana Fever. However, her teammate and close friend Lexie Hull will take the court to face the Los Angeles Sparks.
This celebration and connection off the court show that the bond between Clark and Hull goes far beyond basketball, making them fan favorites both for their skills and for their genuine friendship.
