Recently, a surprising rumor began circulating about a potential trade involving Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys to the New England Patriots. The speculation sparked unease among NFL fans, especially after Colin Cowherd of FS1 and Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated discussed the possibility during a video segment. They asked, “Are the New England Patriots eyeing Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons?”

That single question, though speculative, was enough to ignite curiosity and concern across both fanbases. As a result, many NFL followers began asking: Where did this come from? Is there any truth to it?

A Rumor Without Basis?

Apparently, the rumor originated from a NESN article in Boston, which casually noted that the Patriots were “monitoring” Parsons’ situation. However, the article offered no concrete sources or direct quotes to support any serious trade discussion. It did not state that the Patriots were in negotiations, nor did it confirm any real interest in acquiring the Cowboys’ star defender.

Despite lacking sources, the article stirred speculation. It claimed that Parsons is aiming for a five-year contract worth $40 million per season, totaling a massive $200 million. If accurate, this would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

Furthermore, the article quoted Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who said, “Trying to always make the roster more competitive… that has to happen.” While this statement sounds like general team-building talk, it was not specifically about Parsons or the Cowboys.

So far, there is no solid evidence supporting the idea of a trade. In fact, Parsons himself has expressed his desire to remain a Cowboy for life. Therefore, it seems highly likely that this rumor will remain just that—a baseless rumor.

Nevertheless, if the unlikely happened, and a trade did materialize, it would undoubtedly shock both fanbases and shake the NFL landscape. Until then, fans should treat the talk as speculative noise rather than a real possibility.
