The Maryland Terrapins faced Florida in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Sweet 16 tournament. Angel Reese was there, fully ready to cheer on her younger brother, Julian, amidst an electric atmosphere filled with hundreds of fans eager to witness the game.

However, Angel Reese’s fans were left puzzled after witnessing an uncomfortable exchange between the siblings. The rising WNBA star was there to show her support, but her enthusiasm was not reciprocated by Julian.

The Snub Angel Reese Faced

Angel Reese, now a sensation in the WNBA, naturally steals the spotlight wherever she goes. This time was no exception. She arrived at Chase Center dressed to stand out, wearing a black jacket boldly emblazoned with “JuJu Sister” on the back and “I’m From Baltimore” on the front—clearly making her presence known.

But Angel Reese’s appearance wasn’t about self-promotion—it was all about her brother. However, Julian Reese appeared to ignore her entirely. As Julian stepped off the team bus with a serious, focused demeanor, Angel excitedly recorded him with pride.

Despite her energy, Julian did not acknowledge his sister at all—not a smile, a nod, or even a glance. His mind seemed entirely on the game. Perhaps he was managing pre-game nerves and unintentionally neglected Angel Reese.

Florida shuts down Maryland’s hopes

Maryland had a tough challenge ahead. The plan was to defeat Florida and advance in the tournament. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed, and even Julian Reese’s commendable performance wasn’t enough to overcome Florida’s dominance.

Angel Reese cheered from the stands, but her presence couldn’t change the outcome. The Gators took over late in the game, securing an 87-72 win. Maryland made every effort to stay competitive, with standout performances like Derik Queen’s 27 points. Yet, defensive lapses ultimately cost them the game.

Frustration shared by Angel Reese

After the game, Angel Reese expressed her frustration on social media, writing, “That game stressed me out so much.” Her sentiment resonated with Maryland fans, who watched their team’s abrupt exit from the tournament.

Despite the disappointing result, Julian Reese remains a promising talent. Much like Angel Reese, he has shown exceptional skill in producing double-doubles. His season was marked by remarkable plays and stats that earned him multiple All-Big Ten honors.

A bittersweet defeat and a bright future

Julian’s accomplishments have been impressive, even if the team fell short. During the NCAA tournament’s second round, he etched his name in Maryland history by becoming only the second player to achieve 1,000 career rebounds. His skillset and work ethic have drawn attention, and it’s likely he’ll declare for the NBA Draft. Current projections place Julian Reese as a potential second-round pick.

Should he enter the NBA, Angel Reese and Julian Reese would make history as the seventh sibling duo to compete in both the NBA and WNBA. Despite Julian’s seeming lack of acknowledgment, Angel Reese will undoubtedly be front and center, showing her unwavering support every step of the way.
