Mike Tyson bid farewell to Foreman with a heartfelt message on his social media account on X. Tyson wrote, “My condolences to the family of George Foreman. His contributions to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten,” accompanying his words with a couple of photos of the two legends together.

Mike Tyson wasn’t the only one to react to Foreman’s passing. For example, former basketball player Scottie Pippen also expressed his respects, posting, “Rest in peace, George Foreman. Your legacy endures, champion.”

George Foreman, a beloved figure in the sport of boxing, was a former heavyweight world champion. His legendary 1974 fight against Muhammad Ali remains one of the most iconic matches in boxing history, despite Foreman losing the bout. The announcement of his death came via his family in a touching statement on Instagram.

“With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr, who left us peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones,” the family wrote. They also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers, asking for privacy as they honor Foreman’s extraordinary life.

A celebrated career

Mike Tyson, who had a close relationship with Foreman, shared his condolences with the boxer’s family. Foreman, who was born in Marshall, Texas, and raised in Houston. Overcame a turbulent adolescence to become one of boxing’s greats. After dropping out of school, he pursued a career in boxing that led to remarkable achievements, including winning a gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. George Foreman’s passing marks a profound loss for the sports world, but his legacy as a giant in boxing will be remembered for generations to come.
