A star-studded mystery film
In December 2024, Deadline revealed that Johnson and Hartnett had joined the cast alongside Anne Hathaway. The film adapts Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, keeping its original title.
Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who lands a job as a ghostwriter. Her mission is to finish a book series left incomplete by Verity Crawford, a suspense novelist. Anne Hathaway takes on the role of Verity, while Josh Hartnett plays her husband.
Hartnett’s character hires Lowen after his wife suffers a mysterious accident, preventing her from completing her work. Michael Showalter directs the film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with Hathaway and Hoover also serving as co-producers.
This marks the second adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel to hit the big screen. In 2024, the film It Ends With Us premiered and grossed an impressive $346 million worldwide.
With a gripping plot and a high-profile cast, Verity is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year.
