Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks believes in his team’s potential for the 2025 NFL season. The 2024 campaign was a complete nightmare for the franchise, and the player shared his thoughts on what went wrong.

The Cowboys have made adjustments, restructured contracts, and are exploring new talent in the Draft. All these efforts aim to improve the team’s current performance in the NFL.

The Cowboys’ failure went beyond injuries

According to Brandin Cooks, the team’s downfall last season was about more than just injuries. He believes the devastating playoff loss against the Green Bay Packers triggered a kind of hangover that dragged them into failure. “I think the disappointment from the previous year just lingered. As a team, it felt like, man, that was the year,” Cooks explained.

After three consecutive seasons with a 12-5 record, Jerry Jones’ franchise ended 2024 with a disappointing 7-10 record. Unfortunately, long-term injuries to key players like Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, Brandin Cooks, DaRon Bland, and DeMarvion Overshown severely hurt the Cowboys’ chances.

Reflecting on 2024, Cooks admitted: “Last year was very disappointing… Yes, there were injuries, but it almost felt like all the high hopes from the previous season carried over and weighed us down. Then, finally, towards the end of the year, there was a sense of urgency, but in this league, that’s just too late.”

Hope for a better 2025 season

The Dallas Cowboys have made significant changes, bringing renewed hope to the team and its fans. With Brian Schottenheimer stepping in as head coach and new player acquisitions strengthening the roster, the team is aiming for a fresh start.

“I think they’ll do a great job resetting, making adjustments, and moving forward… I can feel the energy and motivation coming back. The guys are definitely locked in,” Cooks said.

Hopefully, the Cowboys have turned the page and will approach 2025 with the right mindset and energy. They have every opportunity to recover and write a new chapter for their team when the season kicks off soon.
