Cooper Flagg’s mother strongly criticized Tar Heels fans after attending the game between the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She found the experience at the end of the game deeply unpleasant.

Kelly Flagg voiced the frustration that any mother would feel upon hearing people target her son. As a rising star, Flagg constantly faces criticism from opposing team fans whenever Duke plays.

A tense situation with unsportsmanlike behavior

After the game, Flagg openly shared her thoughts about Tar Heels fans in a post. She directly called them “classless idiots” and explained the situation that led to her reaction.

“We faced an intense situation, and UNC fans shocked us with their harshness as we made our way to the arena… They kept harassing us, threw even worse insults our way, and targeted our 18-year-old son and his teammates throughout the game,” Kelly wrote.

She added, “A big shoutout to the entire Carolina fan base for being classless idiots. If you’re a UNC fan and didn’t like it… Tough 💩! Better luck next time! Go Duke 💙.”

Duke secured an 82-69 victory. Kelly enthusiastically celebrated Cooper Flagg’s outstanding performance on the court. Cameras captured the moment, and she later explained, “That was a moment of pure pride for our son.” Still, she did not hesitate to express her frustration over the UNC fans’ poor behavior.

Kelly Flagg might never return to Chapel Hill. With Cooper projected as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, he will likely not play another season with the Duke Blue Devils.
