Cooper Flagg is a rising star who continues to shine on the court, even in the most challenging moments. During the game between the Duke Blue Devils and Florida State, the 18-year-old showed great resilience by playing despite a serious injury.

The victory went to the Duke Blue Devils, who dominated Florida State by 35 points. This, despite Cooper Flagg suffering a strong blow to the face during the first half of the game.

An example of courage and resilience

The hard hit Cooper Flagg took was directly to his eye as a result of a foul by a Florida State player. This forced him to leave the court for a few minutes to recover. He returned for the second half and proved what he is made of. As expected, he gave everything on the court and contributed to the Blue Devils’ victory, with a final score of 100-65.

Jon Scheyer, Duke’s head coach, explained that Cooper Flagg only had a severe contusion on his eyelid, which caused great concern from the start. “As a basketball player, you don’t think about injuring your eye. That doesn’t cross your mind. I had never seen him look scared, and I thought he was scared at first, and rightfully so, because you don’t know how serious or permanent it could be… I was really nervous for him,” Scheyer said.

After Flagg’s injury, the coach approached him to assess his condition and noted that he was having vision problems. That’s why he didn’t return to the court immediately. However, he was able to rejoin the game without any further issues.

Following the incident, Cooper Flagg’s teammate, Sion James, was amazed by the Duke star’s attitude: “He was bruised and scraped. Cooper is one of the toughest guys I’ve ever played with. I was confident that if he was okay, he would return. And he came back better than ever.”

In this way, Cooper Flagg continues to prove why he is one of the top prospects for the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Currently, he is averaging 19.3 points, 4.1 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game.
