Gervonta Davis and celebrity stylist Leebthebrand found themselves in conflict after Davis’ fight against Lamont Roach. The stylist showcased the braiding work she did on the boxer’s hair on social media, but it seems she used a product that caused issues during the fight.

Davis had to kneel in the ninth round because the hair product mixed with his sweat and got into his eyes. This caused a burning sensation and blurred his vision, forcing him to seek assistance in his corner.

In the end, Davis and Roach settled for a majority draw. However, the decision did not sit well with the superstar boxer, who stated: “They took the fight from me and turned it into a draw because I took that knee, but I landed the most punches in the fight.”

Additionally, Davis expressed: “He didn’t even punch me when I took the knee. But I get it—I shouldn’t have done that, but that hair grease was burning my eyes!”

The stylist’s response came quickly

Leebthebrand responded to Davis’ statements after the fight. According to the stylist, the boxer used the hair product as an excuse for his poor performance. She also clarified that she cut Davis’ hair four days before the fight, not “two days before,” as he claimed. In fact, she denied using any grease on his hair, a dispute that has sparked many doubts and debates.

Some boxing fans have also shared their opinions on the matter. Among the comments on X, the following stood out:

  • “It’s a crazy excuse, but I believe him. Right before it happened, that jab barely touched him.”
  • “This might be the worst excuse I’ve ever heard. Even if it’s true, there’s no way it wasn’t ruled as a knockdown.”
  • “Say what you want, call it a knockdown because of those BS rules, but in reality, Brodie didn’t knock him down.”

It seems that the relationship between Gervonta Davis and Leebthebrand is now extremely tense due to this incident. Will they continue their professional collaboration after this controversy?
