The controversial match between Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson continues to generate buzz. Recently, Floyd Mayweather Jr. mocked Jake Paul during his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

As expected, Jake Paul didn’t stay silent after Mayweather’s comments. His response was direct and immediately sparked a heated debate among fans of both fighters.

Mayweather downplayed the fight between Paul and Tyson, suggesting it was not serious and only gained massive viewership because “it was free on Netflix”. Without hesitation, Paul took to X to respond to Mayweather’s remarks.

“You’re a joke. Deji gave you a black eye in front of just 4,000 people. Deji! Hahaha… I’d knock you out in two rounds, and you can’t even touch Mike Tyson’s toe,” Paul Jake fired back. Clearly, Mayweather’s comments struck a nerve, as Paul considers his fight with Tyson the biggest achievement of his boxing career.

The money battle

Paul didn’t stop there. He also took a shot at Mayweather’s finances, writing, “I’d be mad too… You spend billions and can’t even come close.” This was a direct reference to Mayweather’s real estate ventures, implying that despite his enormous spending, his financial influence isn’t as strong as he claims.

The financial gap between these two boxing figures is significant, yet Paul continues to boast about his success in comparison to Mayweather. However, it’s important to note that in the era of streaming, generating high viewership numbers is easier—a reality that benefits influencers like Paul. This makes direct comparisons between their careers somewhat misleading.

As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen whether this war of words will escalate into a real fight inside the ring. Could a Paul vs. Mayweather showdown actually happen? Only time will tell.
