George Pickens found himself under the spotlight after Dallas lost in prime time. The Cowboys fell to Detroit, and the team needed him to assume a leading role after CeeDee Lamb‘s exit due to a concussion. That never happened. He recorded only five catches and failed to respond in key moments.

Richard Sherman questioned his attitude. He said the receiver appeared “uninterested” when Dallas most needed energy. He also raised doubts about Pickens’ future contractual value. Pickens fired back with a direct social media message, although he later deleted it. In that message, he called Sherman “p—y ass” and reminded him of his time without the “Legion of Boom.”

A deleted comment that quickly went viral

According to the New York Post, screenshots circulated immediately. Sherman had stated an elite receiver “cannot disappear.” Pickens responded by pointing to context, specific sequences, and offensive rhythm limitations.

After the exchange, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said he would speak with Pickens. “Just to know how he is,” he said. The issue moved into the locker room without public discipline.

Pickens was carrying expectations. Lamb’s absence shifted Dallas’ offensive hierarchy, and Pickens was expected to carry the production load. His numbers did not support that role. His penalties also hurt the team’s offensive momentum.

The tension between Sherman and Pickens will not be solved through social media, yet it left a bigger message: a young player reacting emotionally to a reference figure with a microphone. The response was emotional; the impact was immediate.
