Jonathan Kuminga once again became the center of attention in Golden State, but not for his scoring or defense. The forward sat through the entire fourth quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder, watching his team collapse in a game that seemed within reach. The 124-112 loss raised more questions than answers, and the reaction came from outside the court.

Aaron Turner, Jonathan Kuminga’s agent, posted on social media a message that sounded more like a warning than frustration: “What are we doing out here 🤦🏻.” According to Essentiallysports, Kuminga’s absence in crunch time wasn’t due to foul trouble or injury, fueling speculation about effort and mistakes.

A shrinking role

Jonathan Kuminga had some positive offensive moments and helped on the boards, but his inconsistency hurt. He missed four shots and forced plays just as Golden State was mounting pressure. In the third quarter, with him on the floor, the Warriors cut a 19-point deficit to just three. Yet Steve Kerr chose to close with a smaller lineup, leaving the young forward out of the final rotation.

This situation isn’t new. Jonathan Kuminga had already lost his starting spot to rookie Will Richard. Kerr’s decision signals a setback in trust toward the player, who started the season strong but now struggles to regain relevance.

Pressure keeps rising

Jonathan Kuminga heard his coach downplay the controversy. Kerr said frustration is normal when a player leaves the starting lineup and insisted Kuminga must “earn” his way back. Still, with Stephen Curry sidelined and losses piling up, the lack of minutes for such an athletic and versatile player sparks debate among fans and analysts.

The OKC game showed what Jonathan Kuminga could have offered: perimeter defense and energy to contain Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. SGA closed with 38 points, punishing the Warriors late and even leaving Draymond Green stunned. Kuminga’s absence exposed the defense and added pressure on a team desperate for answers.

An uncertain future

Jonathan Kuminga now faces a pivotal moment in his career. With the Warriors searching for solutions and his agent speaking out, the player’s future looks increasingly uncertain. What remains clear is that, even from the bench, Kuminga continues to be a central figure in Golden State’s ongoing drama.
